Classic Menu for Office 2007 – Office 2007 Functionality, Office 2003 Looks
The current stable version of the Microsoft Office productivity suite is Office 2007. This year, Microsoft will roll out Office 2010, but there is still a long way to go until that will happen. As some anxiously look to the future and can’t contain their excitement over what the new version will bring to the table, some look to the past and mourn what previous Office versions had to offer.
Take Office 2007’s ribbon UI. It is something that you either love or hate. The people who love it can’t wait for Office 2010 and its ribbon UI (user interface). The people who hate it couldn’t care less. What they would like is if they had the good old Office 2003 interface back. If only there were a way to take advantage of the functionality provided by Office 2007, but make the software look like the now outdated Office 2003.
Wait, there is just such an application. It is called Classic Menu for Office 2007, it has been developed by Addintools, and it weighs in at just 2.5MB (meaning you should download it off the web in a blink of an eye). If you used Office 2003 for a long time, honed your skills, but can’t seem to find anything on the Office 2007 ribbon UI, then Classic Menu for Office 2007 is the application for you. It makes Office 2007 look just like Office 2003.
To my mind this is good in two way. First of all, you get to use the latest version of the Office productivity suite, Office 2007, which is preferable because it is safer and provides more features than Office 2003. All the new features and commands are integrated into the classic style interface. Secondly, you can speed through your work day just like you always did, you don’t have to learn a new UI. If you are an employer, you don’t need to hold training sessions and explain to your employees how the Office 2007’s ribbon UI works.
The final thing there is to say about Classic Menu for Office 2007 is that it provides support for all the various languages Office 2007 supports.
Want to take advantage of Office 2007’s functionality by using Office 2003’s interface? Then get Classic Menu for Office 2007.
